My sister and her family go to Holiday in the Park each year, a tradition I can get behind. It's at Six Flags over Texas in Arlington, and the park is gorgeous with all the lights. He started taking piano this year, and his Christmas concert was last Sunday. 




His teacher provided a brief introduction of each artist and their music. Josh played "Go Tell it on the Mountain," and "Angels We Have Heard on High," and he played brilliantly. It's only, "the battle that saved Washington!" :-) The last time I'd been here was for a first date so disastrous we never made it past the Visitor's Center, but when I was speaking with one of the historians at Chancellorsville, he mentioned that Monocacy was very undervalued. Thought I'd should give it another shot.

Ordered to extend Longstreet’s line to Prospect Hill (about 4 miles south of Marye’s Heights) and become the Confederate right, there was no stout stone wall to protect them.

Yep, you read that correctly: bathtubs. Any event with this much personality simply MUST be supported. 

So off I went to check out the Bathtub Races. Props to Key 103.1 for hosting the event, and to all the competitors for the creativity in putting their bathtub boats together. If I happen to be in DC the day of a parade, I'm all over it. And The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? It's a holiday tradition. But there's just something about a small-town parade that says, "This is what we're really all about."  Of the people, by the people, for the people. LOVE.

This whole time, I've been pronouncing it Mary's Heights, which I'm sure has made Mr. Marye turn over in his grave. Or maybe not.
